St. Euphrasia School Reach (phone) message sent out to parents on Friday, 1/28/11 @ 8:30 p.m.
Good Evening, St. Euphrasia Knights. This is Mrs. Blair, your principal, sending you a message about the 2011-2012 school calendar. You are aware of a letter from Dr. Baxter, Superintendent of the Archdiocese of LA Elementary Schools that went home this past Tuesday. I am certain that most of you read it. The letter addressed the fact that all schools will move to a 200 day calendar by the 2012-2013 year, with many schools phasing in the new calendar starting in the fall of 2011.
I want you to know that St. Euphrasia School will schedule a more traditional calendar for the 2011-2012 year. Prior to any major calendar change that has financial and family life impact; your input will be sought. I have stated many times that we are partners with you in the education of your child. This partnership means that your opinions and concerns can be voiced, listened to, and collaborative decisions can be made that benefit the education and spiritual growth of our children.
The administrative plan is that our school will continue to offer an excellent education with a calendar of 180-185 days, and a full summer school program. We already offer 205 days of instruction, when summer school is factored in. I want to thank you for your patience and support this past week. And, I know that you appreciate that one of the hallmarks of aCatholic school is the partnership we share and the respect that the school administration has for your primary role as a parent. I look forward to seeing all you at Masses this weekend, celebrating the opening of Catholic Schools Week. We are celebrating our A+ for America Knights Education all week long.
