Curriculum

We follow the California State and Archdiocese of LA curriculum standards and have led the way for adoption of a standards-based report card system in the Archdiocese of LA Department of Catholic Schools. All schools, whether archdiocesan, parish, or those owned and operated by religious orders, institutes, or governing boards, are required to meet the following Catholic identity standards from the accrediting agency for archdiocesan elementary schools, the Western Catholic Educational Association:

  • The school has a mission statement and philosophy statement that indicates the integration of the Catholic faith in all aspects of the school’s life.
  • The school provides regular opportunities for the school community to experience prayer and the sacraments.
  • The school has a religion curriculum and instruction that is faithful to Catholic Church teachings and meets the requirements as set forth by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
  • The local ordinary approves those who teach the Catholic faith (Canon 805) and there is ongoing formation for catechetical and instructional competence.
  • The school maintains an active partnership with parents/guardians whose fundamental concern is the spiritual and academic education of their children (Canon 796).
  • The school has a service-oriented outreach to the Church and civic community after the example of Jesus Christ, who said, “I have given you an example so that you may copy what I have done to you” (Jn 13:15).
  • The school uses signs, sacramentals, traditions, and rituals of the Catholic Church.
  • All school personnel are actively engaged in bringing the good news of Jesus into the total educational experience.

St. Euphrasia school has a variety of after school programs that have been established to meet the need for additional enrichment beyond the school day. Classes are updated on a regular basis to meet the demand and the interests of the families served. Feedback from parents, staff, and students is ongoing and helps to make solid decisions about which after school programs are chosen.

St. Euphrasia school offers a variety of extra-curricular activities that provide students with enrichment, intellectual development, service opportunities, creative expression, tutoring, athletics and recreation.

List of after school enrichment classes:  Hip Hop Dance TK-5th grade, Art,  Robotics– Jr. Bots & Tiny Bots (spring class), Music, Game Sports, Cooking and Tennis.

St. Euphrasia has a Tiny Bots Program as part of our extracurricular activities.

The Tiny Bots program will be a hands-on program designed to build interest in the areas of Science, and engineering in young children by exposing them to problem solving opportunities.  Student teams are presented with a problem that has two parts, designing a robot with Legos and programming the robot. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to use block computer programing with their robot to navigate a set of challenges.

In addition to the technical skills, students will develop their ability to work in teams, show sportsmanship, communicate clearly, and overcome challenges.  We will be following First Lego League Core Values:

    • We are a team.
    • We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors.
    • We know our coaches and mentors don’t have all the answers; we learn together.
    • We honor the spirit of friendly competition.
    • What we discover is more important than what we win.
    • We share our experiences with others.
    • We display Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition® in everything we do.
    • We have FUN!

We have two Robotics Team (Gr. 6-8).  Our Incredibots team has been ranked as a top LA team since 2015.  Boeing Corp. is a sponsor for our teams.

St. Euphrasia School offers a well-rounded summer program that balances the enrichment and adventure that students appreciate during the summer. The program is open to students in the school environment and the larger community. A substantial benefit to the program is the low student-to-teacher ratio. Students spend the day with an experienced and caring staff.

St. Euphrasia’s summer program fuses fun and academics to create a wide range of activities and experiences that benefit the students.

Students will engage in STEM activities: Science, Robotics, Mathematics, and Language Arts.

The academic program will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Total cost is $500 per student, which includes a $100 non-refundable registration fee. There are no refunds of tuition, registration, and day care fees after June 15, 2021.

There will be academic enrichment classes in the core subjects of math, reading and language arts for students entering grades K to 8 in August 2021.

Crafts, performing arts, science activities, and sports activities will also be offered in an extended day program from 12 to 5 p.m., which is optional for students enrolled in the summer school program only.  The cost of the extended day program is an additional $325 per student.

The session will be 5 weeks and will run from June 21 – July 23, 2021 (with no school on Monday, July 5th in honor of Independence Day).

Online registration is now open! All students must be enrolled with registration fees paid by June 11, 2021. If you have any questions regarding the summer program, please contact Mrs. Brenda Zaragoza (bzaragoza@stemail.org).

Note: Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will not be any field trips or assemblies brought into the school. Due to this change, the Summer School tuition rates have been reduced from $600 to $500 per student.
